We reviewed verbs this week and practiced changing the tense of the verb to reflect past, present and future tense. The kids love charades!

Along with our buddy class we used tangram puzzles to make holiday shapes. This is a great problem solving activity. The seven pieces can make a variety of shapes when pushed together. We focused on making holiday shapes. We are learning our geometric shapes in a fun way! Students need to ask questions about the number of sides they have and the number of angles to figure out what shape is on their head. We will continue playing as we learn about 3-d shapes.
We worked with the members of our community to build houses to prepare for the winter in our Pilgrim simulation activity. Students had to go to the forest to get the tree, color, cut into planks and glue into a thatched roof home. They were timed by the time they arrived in the New World. Jules' mom, Ben's mom and Ava's mom all came in to share wonderful stories with us as Mystery Readers. It's always so fun to have a parent read us books!
Students were rewarded for their positive behavior choices with a Minute to Win It behavior assembly. The participated in a variety of challenges and had a great time! We had a "Spooktacular" time at our Halloween party! First, the students loved parading around the school to see everyone dressed up. When we returned to our classroom we rotated around stations of activities. Students loved the props in the photo booth, they played Bingo, they felt creepy things hiding inside of pumpkins, they enjoyed decorating treats and playing ring the witches hat. Special thanks to our amazing moms for planning such an awesome party!
Along with our buddies we build candy towers as one of our STEM projects. We looked at different 3 d shapes and what we thought would build the tallest structure. We were lucky to have the help of our buddies for this fun project.
We worked on teams to break out of the dungeon. We looked around the library for clues on how to break out and open the locked box. We had to work together to solve this mystery. What a Spooktacular time we had!
We loved our special pizza lunch today! We celebrated with the lunch because we were the class that donated the greatest number of bags for the clothing sale. Thank you BFA! |
