Iris Reyes decided she would like to be a Mystery Reader for our class. At the classroom store this past month she purchased a coupon to read to us. What a wonderful surprise! Great Job Iris!

Charlotte's grandparents came in to be our Mystery Readers last week. They are from England and we feel very lucky that they visited us while they were here. WE enjoyed, I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Turkey with her grandfather and I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell with her grandmother. We loved the stories!
Students had a ball with all of the games to reward the great choices they are making this year! Some students bowled while others played hockey or jumped around trying to shake the ping pong balls out of a box.
Roll to $1.00. Students worked in cooperative groups making trades with coins to see who could collect $1.00 first. WE love when our parents come in to share stories with us! Mr. Peirce had us laughing and guessing what what was going to happen next.
Students learned how to communicate with one another without using oral language. They completed pantomime to try to explain what they were thinking. It was a great exercise to learn how difficult it must have been for the Pilgrims to communicate with the Native Americans.
Students worked cooperatively with the members of their colony to build houses. They were given 20 minutes to complete as many houses as they could to prepare for winter.
Mrs. Paden came in to be Mystery Reader on Friday. She read, The Day the Crayons Quit. The children loved the story. They were also able to figure out the clues that helped them know that she was the Mystery Reader. She likes the color pink, Swedish Fish and she grew up in Wisconsin. Thank you Mrs. Paden. Students learned about the artist VanGogh and painted like VanGogh. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Soling for coming in to teach us about this artist and his style.
