We had a wonderful day at the end of the year picnic! Some students enjoyed playing baseball while others loved playing on the playground equipment. Other students loved watching the fish from the bridge and a few enjoyed flying kites, blowing bubbles and coloring with chalk. A great time was had by all. Thank you for joining us for lunch! It's always special when we have mom, dad, or a grandparent there to eat with us. Enjoy the picture collection.

This morning we gave out the coveted 2nd grade classroom awards. Students walked the red carpet to see what award they would receive this year. Students voted for each recipient. Congrats!
With the fidget spinner craze I looked for a way to incorporate it in an academic way. Students used their spinners to find three numbers to add together before the spinner stopped. If successful they created a running total in a race to 1,000. Math fun! Mrs. Soling and Mr. Weiler came in to be our last Mystery Readers this year! Mrs. Soling completed a mad lib with the students to create their own story. It was a wonderful review of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Mr. Weiler shared, The Little Little Javelinas and Pigeon Wants a Puppy. Thank you to all of our wonderful supportive parents!
The kids loved building rollercoasters today for their STEM challenge. They learned what fun it is to build a rollercoaster with common materials you can find at home. They used paper plates, cups, tape and marbles. They wanted the marbles to stay on the track.
Today we worked with our buddies to construct a pollinator that would transfer the most pollen to a flower. We were only allowed to use spoons, cotton balls, pom-poms and rubber bands. The kids came up with clever designs to transfer the pollen. (koolaid) We love Science! WE love practicing math facts with Toothy! Students get to add one tooth for each correct answer to build a giant smile! The cards allow students to self check their work for immediate feedback.
Students had a great time earning money for our school by running in the trak-a-thon. They completed many laps and cheered each other on! Great team spirit! Go Bulldogs! |
